Sunpower’s EDR-75 and NDR-75 DIN rail power supplies are new complements to the well-established SDR-75 series now popular in high-performance industrial applications. The new products are designed for situations where cost is a primary issue, while sharing most of the SDR-75 features – particularly their 75 W power, slimline 32 mm width metal housing and compatibility with TS-35/7.5 and TS35/15 DIN rails. These units are ideal for power and control cabinets with limited internal width.

The EDR-75 series has an operating efficiency of up to 88.5%, with up to 89% for NDR-75. This allows cooling by free air convection, with no need for a noisy cooling fan and its associated space and reliability considerations. The EDR-75 series can operate over the temperature range -20 to +60°C (-20 to +70°C for NDR-75). Both series accept a full range 90 – 264 VAC input and provide 12 V, 24 V or 48 V DC outputs. Other functions include short circuit protection, overload protection with constant current limiting output, over voltage protection, over temperature protection, and front panel DC voltage adjustment.

The EDR-75 and NDR-75 series both carry UL/CUL/CB/TUV/CE safety certification and meet the EN61000-6-2 heavy industry grade EMS standard. They also comply with EN55022 Class A (EDR-75) and EN55022 Class B (NDR-75) standards for electromagnetic interference (EMI). With their constant current overload protection, they can be used with inductive and capacitive loads.

“The pricing and specifications show that these are extremely competitive products for industrial applications constrained by both space and budget” commented Andy Wall, CEO of Sunpower Technology, “but these power supplies offer solid quality as well as a great price/performance specification – they have UL508 industrial control equipment compliance as well as all their safety and EMS/EMI certification. Additionally they come with three years’ warranty (two years for EDR-75) as standard. We’re expecting to see them designed into industrial control systems, semiconductor fabrication equipment, factory automation, electro-mechanical equipment and many other demanding applications.”
