Power Supply Design Process

The power supply has often been an after thought in the design process of an application. now with the realisation that the complexities of some systems and that the power supplies themselves have become more sophisticated and complex it is considered earlier in the design process.

All of our factories and offices are approved to ISO 9001-2000, ISO-9001 and/or ISO-14001 ensuring quality assurance from initial concept through to manufacture and supply of a power supply.

When starting any PSU project the initial discussions will be based around creating or reviewing the technical specifications. Once this is agreed in principle timelines and key milestones, responsibilities, resources and dependencies will be discussed and, if required, a Project Plan produced.

The design process for a power supply can go through any variation of the stages below, dependant on the product type, complexity and intended application.

  • Project Planning

The complexities of some power supplies will result in the need for a project plan to tie together the elements required from our team, you the customer and our supplies. A power supply project plan will break down the design process into a list of deadlines and time critical elements.

Power Supplies with Programmable Output Voltage Function & PFC

The new SPV Series of single output enclosed power supplies increase the flexibility to users and their end systems. These full input range power supplies are available in 12V, 24V & 48V models and those output voltages are programmable from 20% to 120% by adding 1 - 6VDC external control. Other features of these programmable power supplies include wattage available up to 4500W, this range is ideal for the demands of high power applications.

Available Series are SPV-150 (150W), SPV-300 (300W), SPV-600 (600W) & SPV-1500 (1500W).
