Bespoke PSU design can be a tough, complicated business. Some specialist units can be in development for up to two years, which is no surprise considering the array of electronic hoops they are made to jump through to meet your, often stringent, demands. Sunpowers unique adaptability in dealing with all your PSU procurement needs stems from our direct link with Taiwanese manufacturing. This unbeatable partnership means we can deliver higher performance, reliable and flexible PSU solutions.
The complexities of some power supplies will result in the need for a project plan to tie together the elements required from our team, you the customer and our supplies. A power supply project plan will break down the design process into a list of deadlines and time critical elements.
During the new product planning procedure of a power supply we will consider feasibility, costs and capacity before the design is passed onto R&D to be formalised. A clear specification, knowledgeable understanding of the requirments ensures our projects move swiftly.
The function design procedure will consider if there are any existing products that follow a similar specification. Once this is determined the project will either proceed to EVT or DVT1 stages or move onto identifying the best technology for the product.
At the outset of a bespoke project or when developing a new standard project range we tend to follow a procedure. Although a formal design process is often not appropriate for research, it can be used to provide a core development platform for several research projects.

With our partners we utilise computer aided design in AutoCAD or PRO E, create 3D Simulations of your product and produce sheet metal fabrications and enclosures in mild steel, stainless, aluminium and zintec. Metalwork finises include zinc plated covers with colour passivate finish, powder coating, electroplating, anodising and other corrosion protection finishes.
