Our power solutions – impact throughout daily tasks and activities Product design often starts with a power source and building around the unit for the applications peak performance. Over the last five or so years we have witnessed the smart technology market boom with new product pushing the boundaries of power supply intelligence. You may not even realise how much power supply technology already impacts you within your everyday life and so to illustrate only a select few simple touchpoints, we have created the following infographic. As per fig1 you can see that we have highlighted some of our best performing and common choice products within their sector for the relevant applications. You can discuss power solutions with our technical support team; identify a product, understand potential product upgrades, product performance and product specification for manufacturing.

The rapidly expanding medical equipment market offers significant opportunities, but also creates challenges for power supply builders and users alike. The trend towards home care equipment increases not only the opportunities but also the challenges. These arise from the complexity of modern legislation and the shift of responsibility towards medical power supply market manufacturers to rigorously assess the compliance of their own products. In this article we look at the current situation and review the legislation now in place in Europe and North America. We see how the standards required depend very much on the level of patient contact, and how applied parts as well as power supplies must be taken into consideration. Some practical solutions for different compliance levels and applications are also offered. The global market for medical power supplies is rapidly expanding. According to a MarketsandMarkets report ‘Medical Power Supply Market by Technology’, the sector was estimated…
Energy efficiency of external power supplies (EPSs), and curbing excessive power consumption has long been an issue of international concern, and with good reason. In the early 90s EPSs, mainly utilising linear technology, had efficiencies sometimes as low as 50%, and drew unwanted power even on no load. Calculations at the time suggested that unless these issues were addressed, EPSs would account for 30% of total energy consumption within 20 years. Since then, voluntary and then mandatory regulations have grown to ensure higher average energy efficiency of external power supplies. These initiatives have addressed both operating energy efficiency and no-load power drain. While this regulatory development has achieved real reductions in global power consumption, its somewhat explosive expansion has also created challenges for power supply and OEM manufacturers as they endeavour to keep pace with the rate of change. This Guide describes the current state of international legislation, and how…
