Primary Circuit
The primary circuit refers to the input section of an isolated power supply, which is connected to the AC mains. This section of the power supply has dangerous voltage levels and not designed to be directly accessed by users.
Ring Wave Suppression
The ring wave suppression is a feature in surge protectors that protects against oscillating transient voltages.
Redundant Power Supply
A system setup that includes more than one power supply to ensure continued operation in the event of a single power supply failure.
Power Conditioning
The process of modifying and controlling an electrical power supply to provide a constant, quality power flow to sensitive equipment.
Phase Correction
Used in power supplies to correct the phase angle between voltage and current, improving power factor efficiency.
Power Fail
Power fail is a signal which indicates that the input power has failed. This signal gives the powered system a chance to store information or switch over to backup power before the system goes down.
Power Factor
Power factor is the ratio of actual AC input value when compared to the power consumed by the various PSU system circuitry.
Rated Output Current
The rated output current is the maximum load current that a power supply can provide at a specified ambient temperature. A power supply can never provide more current that it’s rated output current unless there is a fault, such as short circuit at the load.
