LED Dimmable Power Supply
What are LED Dimmable Power Supplies?
LED lighting is increasingly favored for its energy efficiency, high-quality illumination, and immediate activation upon switching. Its adaptability extends to various lighting applications, many of which incorporate intelligent design systems that require adjustable light levels. To cater to this need, Sunpower offers an extensive selection of LED dimmable power supplies designed to accommodate various dimming methods.
Key Dimming Functions
1. 3-in-1 Dimming
This versatile dimming function combines three methods:
- 1~10Vdc Dimming: Here, a voltage between 1V and 10V is applied directly to the driver. At 1V, the output light is at approximately 10%, allowing fine control over lighting brightness.
- PWM Signal Dimming: PWM, or Pulse Width Modulation, involves an external circuit that adjusts the average voltage to the dimming input of the LEDs. This method effectively controls the brightness by varying the duration of the 'on' time of the LED.
- Resistive Dimming: Utilizes a 100K potentiometer to vary resistance across the driver’s internal control voltage. This method does not require external voltage, making it a straightforward solution for adjusting brightness.
2. Applications of LED Dimmable Power Supplies
These power supplies are versatile enough for both commercial and residential settings, enhancing environments like restaurants, retail spaces, offices, cinemas, and homes. Specific areas include bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and pool lighting. The ability to adjust lighting not only meets aesthetic and functional needs but also contributes to energy conservation.
Benefits of LED Dimming
Control and Atmosphere: Dimming allows users to control the intensity of their lighting, creating the desired ambiance in any setting. This flexibility is crucial in spaces like cinemas or restaurants where lighting dramatically influences the mood and experience.
Energy Efficiency: By adjusting the light output, dimmable LEDs use only the energy needed, reducing overall electricity consumption.
Extended Lifespan: Dimming can also extend the lifespan of LEDs, as reducing the operational intensity decreases heat output and wear on the components.
