dali-to-pwm-signal-converter-provides-flexible-energy-saving-dimming-control-for-up-to-80-lighting-fixtures

New from Sunpower, the DAP-04 DALI to PWM converter answers the increasing demand for DALI control within LED lighting applications. The DAP-04 has a DALI input that can accept data from a remote IEC62386-101, 102 or 207 compliant DALI controller, and four PWM Dimming outputs. The DAP-04 extracts dimming levels and address information from the incoming DALI data to control each of these four PWM dimming outputs individually.

Each channel can drive the PWM input of any Sunpower MEAN WELL LED power supply equipped with MEAN WELL’s ‘3-in-1’ dimming function. As these PSUs are available with capacities of up to 20 LED lighting fixtures, the DAP-04 can drive up to 80 units overall.

As an alternative to DALI control, an external push dimmer can be connected to the DAP-04 to provide a push dimming function, in which the dimming level is controlled by the duration of the push time. The DAP-04 offers a 1 – 100% dimming range, and a choice of linear or logarithmic dimming curves which comply with IEC62386-207. A built-in relay and contact is provided for ON/OFF control of the AC LED power supply. The PWM outputs can be jumper-set for Active High or Active Low operation. In either DALI or push dimming mode, the DAP-04 fulfils the demands of intelligent lighting control systems that require energy-saving, high efficiency and flexibility.

The DAP-04 features a full range 90 – 305 VAC universal AC input and consumes less than 0.5 W in power. Cooling is by free air convection in ambient temperatures from -30°C to +60°C while operating in a closed system. Users are protected from risk of electric shock by the DAP-04’s UL 94V-0 rated plastic case and Class ll double isolation design without Frame Ground. The case also provides environmental protection rated to IP20. Installation and wiring is simplified thanks to DAP-04’s screw-less clamp style termination block.

“Whether a LED lighting installation is provided for indoor decorative purposes, or more functional domestic or office applications, users today expect flexible dimming capability for both aesthetic and energy-saving reasons,” said Andy Wall, CEO at Sunpower Technology LLP. “Now, lighting installers can offer this flexibility, cost-effectively and with minimal complexity and footprint, simply by adding the new DAP-04 converter to existing MEAN WELL ‘3-in-1′ LED power supply modules. Once installed, these converters’ reliability is underwritten by the 3-year warranty provided with each unit.”
